Useful websites for Training

Teacher Tube is an online community for sharing instructional videos. They offer a more educationally focused, safe venue for teachers, schools, and home learners. It is a site to provide anytime, anywhere professional development with teachers teaching teachers. As well, it is a site where teachers can post videos designed for students to view in order to learn a concept or skill.

Common Craft videos have helped teachers and trainers delight millions around the world by making complex ideas easy to understand.

The Web 2.0 Guru wiki is a great resource for how to use technology in the classroom.  The author not only explains the different tools, but supplies links to them and examples that can be found on the web.  The best page (in my opinion) can be found here.

The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE®) is the premier membership association for educators and education leaders engaged in improving learning and teaching by advancing the effective use of technology in PK-12 and teacher education.

The Office of Innovation and Improvement (OII) makes strategic investments in innovative educational programs and practices, and administers more than 25 discretionary grant programs. This blog focuses on those initiatives, and is very interesting.

ASTD (American Society for Training & Development) provides resources for learning and performance professionals, educators, and students;brings professionals together in conferences, workshops, and online; offers professional development opportunities for learning practitioners; and sets the standard for best practices in learning and performance.

World Wide Learn is a directory of e-learning courses and education resources on the web that evolved into an award winning evaluator of those resources.  The page I've linked to discusses the top ten trends in eLearning.

iBerry, "The Academic Porthole", is a wiki-type site that links Learners and Educators to Open Courseware (OCW) resources on the web.

Oakland University's e-Learning and Instructional Support department has a wealth of resources for OU faculty to help them add technology to their classrooms.  They are specialists in Moodle, which we all use for our classes, as well as a deep pool of tools on distance learning, virtual learning, and creation of online course material.  They also sponsor an annual conference on e-Learning.
The goal of Microsoft Digital Literacy is to teach and assess basic computer concepts and skills so that people can use computer technology in everyday life to develop new social and economic opportunities for themselves, their families, and their communities.

Instructional Design and Online Course Development
This website explores the role of Instructional Designers, defines the tasks and responsibilities of Online Course Developers, highlights some of the tools used to create online courses, provides online references for each subject explored, and shows some ID and graphics examples

The International Society for Individual Liberty (ISIL) isn't an education site, per se, but I found a great article about compulsory education that belongs to ISIL.  The article is called Bootie Zimmer's Choice.
